I bought this jacket last month from amazon and have no regrets. It is really warm and totally waterproof. I like the material used in the outer jacket - it is good quality and feels more like a cotton material than a some waterproof jackets (which can be quite plasticy to touch). The hood is great as it is very generously cut so comes far over front of the head keeping out all of the rain. The inner jacket is so soft and warm. Really pleased with my purchase :-)

Now that the UK winter weather has set in with a vengeance, this jacket has been tested to some extreme!At the moment, I wear it on Sunday mornings to watch my son play his rugby matches, and last week stood at the touchline on open land, in Yorkshire, in the cold, driving rain and mud. I can definitely vouch for its waterproof qualities!If there is any niggle at all, the hood doesn't tuck in to the collar, although it can be removed from the jacket, and adjusting it can be a bit fiddly.Other than that, I would recommend this jacket.

I have been trying to replace a 15 year old Helly Hansen waterproof (as it isn't anymore) with one that would last as long, but struggled to get the right blend of functionality, sizing and smartness to make a general purpose waterproof. I tried HH but like other brands, they have moved from the baggy square type shape that served me well in fitting fleeces underneath my old one (if looking a bit clunky)to a "shaped" one. All I can say is that the models for their brands must be very tall, incredibly thin (or never cold)and not mind being called "extra-large". I am 5ft, size 12/14 and thus landed upon this Marmot coat, choosing a wary "large" from this experience. The price is a bit higher but goodness, the coat quality is in a different league. It is very well finished, well shaped but allowing movement for the fleece and another layer underneath, and without the fleece (which zips beautifully neatly in, poppers on the elasticated sleeve to fit in shell) still doesn't look too boxy. The fleece is very well made and looks good on it's own. The size sits a little longer than on the model, which is great for short me. The fabric is soft but seems strong, the seams well taped. The hood is snug (can be adjusted) and the fixed peak sheilds my glasses from rain.All in all I feel this coat is good value for money looks great and will last a long time.
