By KHIMAERA
Light My Fire firesteels have a reputation of being the best firestarters available.I already have an 'army model' version of this firesteel, the only difference between the army vs scout version is that the scout version in somewhat smaller & is good for 3,000 fires compared to 12,000 from the army version. The black paint on the steel 'key' should be scraped off first using the smaller striker key to expose the metal underneath, then you are ready to make fire!I normally use cotton wool coated with a little petroleum jelly (vaseline) to catch the sparks & get the initial fire started then start adding wood shavings & smaller sticks etc to really get the blaze going, I even use this to light my barbecues.Highly recommended to any budding boy scout & will certainly last for a good few years even with regular use & available in loads of colours. Lovely Stuff!!

Received the item after a rather poor delivery time but thats by the by. The item itself arrived with a fairly big chip missing from the shaft that was later found rattling round in the box. The plastic toggle on the cord also kept falling off. Other than that, the item makes sparks as it should and does as its needed to do. Would just prefer if it had done so without bits falling off to start with.

By Bushcrafter
This is such a great product, that it is actually hard to start talking about this excellent way to start a fire. This tool should be a part of every outdoorsman's kit. Sure, a lighter may be easier to use, but good luck using a lighter at high elevation, when it's raining or below -10 degrees celsius. It simply won't work, leaving you disappointed and freezing cold. Need I say more? Just get this already.
