I give this product 5* without hesitation.I bought this item on the basis that my old built-in caravan 'fridge was not doing it's job anymore and I needed a solution quickly. (as over £650 to replace it!) Having now used this Dometic product for an extended period on site, I don't regret one penny spent and thoroughly recommend it where the purpose suits your needs. My old Built-in size is 75 liters but as in any 'fridge I'd say 40% of capacity (especially caravan designs!) is just wasted space. So a "Chest" refrigerator with 40 liters capacity methodically packed and managed, has to be just as useful and certainly far more efficient and economical in operation.Remember especially when loaded, it is a very heavy and awkward item, think about what surface you are going to move it to and leave it on and easy access! Lightweight camping tables are NOT suitable as too unstable. If running on LPG, think about how you will supply it? It comes with a standard hose nipple, you need to supply tubing and a regulated supply. (suggest dedicated cylinder, hose and regulator)It MUST NOT be used on gas inside the caravan, not especially convenient as this means popping outside for every need, but then that's camping isn't it!Pre-cooling at home on mains took about an hour to noticeably cool the empty space, 3 hours to be cold enough to then pack with both frozen and chilled goodies for the 4 hours on the back seat of the Car!Plugged into the 12v worked very well for the journey but be warned, both the plug and car socket metal bits become extremely hot!I have not yet used the cabinet on mains so cannot comment on performance and thermostatic reliability in this mode.On GAS there is NO Thermostatic control, My experience was during a quite mild October, but even on Low setting inside the awning, all frozen goodies stayed frozen enough. Beware though, carefully manage the location of your chilled goodies. Those nearest the heat-exchange panel and in the bottom of the cabinet will became frozen!Be especially aware of glass items such as beer and wine and other liquids like milk. (I have made polystyrene divides with air-circulation holes so have made it more of a 'fridge/freezer!) Also I found that turning the gas off overnight was more than enough to keep frozen frozen and chilled chilled, and saved expensive LPG!What you have in the cabinet also makes a difference of course and I stress the need to manage your contents!Remember these units perform relevant to the ambient temperatures. In a zipped-up awning in mid summer it will struggle to cool, in winter it will freeze everything (to -32º C or lower, double that of your domestic freezer at home!) if the contents are left un-managed!The only let-down in my experience was that the first unit I received arrived damaged from having been dropped heavily on it's corner, most likely by the parcel firm. It was collected and replaced immediately with no quibble by the vendor. To cut a saga short, my view is that the manufacturer's packaging is well below the necessary quality to protect the cabinet and the thin-gauge steel plate used, from the corner thumps and bumps in transit.Sadly also the replacement had similarly caused lighter damage of a thumped in base foot, but I decided I can live with this as the unit is quite cumbersome to handle and after a few more trips around the countryside it will pick up more thumps, bumps and dents anyway! Finally, I also found that in both examples, the heat transfer panel inside the cabinet had become detached from the refrigeration unit tube. Again I put this down to poor manufacturing and the use of some sort of slippery (so pointless) product used in assembly. Cleaning the surfaces and carefully, firmly, relocation the panel easily solved the issue. To conclude as I started, I give this product 5* without hesitation for it's performance and functionality, it's practicality and performance.
