I bought this jacket to replace my old 3 layer Taslan Goretex jacket,it is one of the few available that is full length - thus covering the posterior and also offering hip height pockets. The prime use is for hill walking in winter and on a recent trip to Aran Fawddwy was fully tested, glorious sun in the late morning followed very quickly by driving cold rain with sleet, the afternoon being cool and dry. The jacket performed admirably as you would expect from Berghaus, keeping the wearer perfectly dry. The hood proved easy to use, though use of the adjusters with gloved hands was not easy. I am not keen on the use of press studs for the weather seal over the zip - again difficult to use with gloved hands in freezing rain - nor of the small velcro strips, I would prefer a full length velcro fastening.At just under £100 for a well made Goretex jacket this is a steal - you just have to put up with the drab colours !

I've had the Cornice waterproof jackets for about 6 years now - just replaced my lost 2005 one with a brand new version and it's lost none of the quality, and has some useful new features too.A few reviews point out you'll need a few layers under the Cornice to stay warm... it's not a lined coat - you can get a version with a fleece included - but this offers flexibility for the wearer to layer up. I find that a t-shirt and lightweight microfleece are enough down to around 0 degrees C, but my partner prefers 2 t-shirts and a heavy fleece for the same conditions, proving it's a subjective choice!Features on the jacket are all good for regular use rather than extreme mountaineering - fit is excellent even at XL size, there are plenty of pockets which stay dry, the collar has a useful warm lining and elasticated cuffs are a new addition compared to my old coat. Gore Tex remains the best choice for waterproof breathability - the proprietary offerings from Berghaus and others don't come close. The long fit is a real boon, and you can always open the zip from below for a bit more flexibility. The hood is a good fit with a decent (non-rigid) visor - the adjustable cords may be tricky with gloves on but once tight provide good cover.All in all highly recommended - long lasting, well made and blimmin' brilliant at keeping rain and wind off you.

I wanted a Gire-Tex jacket for a while, as I walk our 3 dogs a lot. I was sick of other costly jackets that said the were fully waterproof etc only to get leaks and a lot of dampness inside due to breathability. This jacket fits the bill perfectly. Its not too warm and bulky. It has the feature to add a fleece lining, which will be OK for the really cold weather. Overall I find Berghaus do an excellent product at a great price, when compared with some other over priced walking/waterproof jackets.
