I wanted a hard wearing bag as I am a frequent air traveller . This bag has proved very disappointing suffering bad damage on the top corners very quickly as they are not protected. I had to patch the bag with tap to cover the damage. It is a bag that is easily damaged and frequent air travel has quickly badly damaged it.Despite its robust looks it now looks a wreck with tap and patches on the corners and to try and keep it going. The handle is now beginning to give up the will to live. It is easily recognisable on the baggage conveyor due to the patches and is a talking point with fellow tavellers. My advice is to avoid and buy a bag that can take some punishment.

We finally succumbed to buying these (black and blue) after a lifetime of holdalls. It's fair to say this kind of carry-on baggage makes your life so much easier. The bag itself is bang on the 25cm width for Easyjet at the bottom, but it tapers in slightly towards the top. It's too wide for Ryanair, so don't be tempted if you'd want to use it for them. It's also bang on the 56cm height and 40cm wide, so not a lot of room for error. The material is the usual North Face pretty robust and thick water-resistant heavy duty rubbery-feeling plastic, so as thick and chunky as you get. You won't puncture or tear it easily, that's for sure. Also, the zips are very chunky, about twice the size of the usual cheap rubbish you get on most bags, so that gives you more confidence as well. There's holes on the sliders where you can insert a thin padlock, which is also useful. The top and side handles are solidly stiched in, so you don't feel like they'll give way with any weight in the bag. There's a small zipped pocket at the top, but you won't be able to get much in there, especially if the main compartment is jammed solid. The wheels are bigger than most others out there, so run more smoothly because of that. Finally, the handle is easily extended and retracted and has a nice solid feel to it. Having two bars also makes it more manouverable than those with a single bar.All in all, I'm very impressed and feel that it was money well spent. It would be nice to have external straps to cinch it down to the minimum, as is done on the next size up, but that's the only minor issue I can find wrong with it. I'm copying this review to the other colour we have, as amazon list the bag separately by colour.

I'm not that tall, 6"2, but for me to wheel this around I need to hunch over, it has no extendable handle.
